Foreign-made weapons and ammunition have been recovered after the Central Bureau of Investigation raided locations in Bengal's Sandeshkhali
Sandeshkhali has been gripped by unrest for the past year. Local women recently came forward, alleging that leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), such as Shahjahan Shaikh, along with others, had unlawfully seized their lands. Some women also accused TMC leaders of engaging in sexual exploitation. This led to protests by women in the area. Amidst this turmoil, workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also staged protests in Sandeshkhali.
Shahjahan Shaikh faces allegations in the ration scam and is implicated in the recent attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team. Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has accused the BJP of politicizing the situation.
